“There are some things you can't share without ending up liking each other, and knocking out a twelve-foot mountain troll is one of them.”

– J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone

(Or almost failing 10th grade math together with a teacher eerily similar to Umbridge, but that's a story for another time)

We're huge Harry Potter fans. We totally love geeking out over the wizarding universe. It gets a bit ridikulus, really.(People who hate Harry Potter and/or puns, you probably won't be feeling this article today). But, if you’re as big of Harry Potter fans as we are, then you will Sirius-ly appreciate this Harry Potter Hogwarts wax seal kit! Even if you don’t frequently send letters, this wax kit will inspire you to write a letter to your mom or a close friend you haven't had the time to catch up with, or anyone, really. You'll just want an excuse to send a letter that possesses the class and poise of Professor McGonagall.

Unfortunately, this kit doesn't include everything you'd need to obtain the power of magic required of a witch or wizard, but it does include the following items:

- A brass seal with Hogwarts' crest

- Silver, gold, and burgundy wax

- Two tea lights

- Spoon

Once you try a few, the wax seals turn out beautifully. Comparable to the beauty of Fleur's golden, radiant hair. Also comparable to the beauty of Hagrid's luscious, untameable, magnificent dark beard. Oh, that's just us? Yikes.

Anyways, here are a few pictures of the process!

Note the tree in the upper right corner of the desk that's sending definite Mandrake root vibes

Left: A look inside the kit as it comes! Right: Using a bigger (and Harry Potter butterbeer-scented candle) to melt the wax

Left: The pouring of the wax ~ Right: The pressing of the wax

Left: The finished seals! They look so refined, we're obsessed ~ Right: More pictures from the photo shoot. These Harry Potter envelopes were a gift to Gus from Harry Potter World in Universal Studios!

The finished product among other wizarding goods. Imagine how easy it would be to get a letter like this in the mail and think your Hogwarts acceptance letter had finally come. Oh, how we wish.

Here are some of my thoughts after using this kit:

- It's easier to use than the Marauder's Map! The kit comes with everything you need to create a seal, and the wax only takes around 30 seconds to melt over the tea light they give you. *Pro tip*- you can use a toothpick to swirl the wax around in the spoon in order to ensure it's all melted!!

- In order to create a Hogwarts-worthy seal, make sure to fill up the spoon with as much wax as it can hold. The more wax you pour, the more likely your seal will be a keeper!

- After you pour the wax on your envelope, be sure to work quickly when you apply the stamp to create the seal. Firmly press down with the stamp and hold for around 10 seconds, then carefully lift up to reveal your seal!

- To clean the spoon after each use, it works best to heat the spoon back up and use a paper towel to wipe all the liquid wax away.

- If you have any sort of colored pigment, you can use that to apply a light coating on the raised edges of your seal for a lovely brushed effect. Since the kit comes with colors that can represent three of the four houses (no love for Ravenclaw, unfortunately), you can use colored pigments from any craft store to add a more personalized touch to show your house spirit!
